Here's a specific thing worth worrying about: the U.S. government funds itself mostly by taxing wages. AI is in the process of automating a lot of wages. Nobody in charge seems to be connecting those two sentences out loud, which is the kind of gap that tends to turn into a real problem a decade before anyone official admits it.
That's the kind of thing this site exists to poke at: ideas that are actually good, wherever they come from, tested to see if they hold up rather than just repeated because they sound right. Not left, right, or center. Just: does this work, and is it worth building toward?
I'm a designer and product person by trade (more of that work lives at tylerherman.com), but this site is where I think about bigger systems: tax policy, housing, the stuff that quietly decides what daily life looks like in twenty years.
Also, yes, I'm aware "guy starts a website to fix the world's problems" is a genre with a pretty rough track record. I'm doing it anyway. Someone has to be wrong on the internet in a well-researched way.
What this isn't
Not a hot take machine. Not trying to win an argument. If an idea doesn't hold up under scrutiny, including my own ideas, that's worth saying plainly instead of spinning it.
What's next
Essays, mostly. Starting with tax policy, since that's where the research is furthest along. Wherever the questions lead after that.
